Biography

Shuya "Emily" Tan is General Counsel at FR Global Macro (FRGM), where she leads the firm's legal, corporate, and compliance matters. A corporate and securities attorney, she brings experience across fund formation, private placements, private equity, mergers and acquisitions, financing, and corporate governance. She previously served as General Counsel at Hongkun USA, a New York–based real estate development firm, and as corporate counsel at China Merchants Bank, where she worked on acquisition and subscription financing. Earlier roles include managing M&A, joint-venture, and litigation matters at COSCO Americas and practicing corporate finance, M&A, Hong Kong IPO, and asset-management work as an associate at the international law firm Fried Frank. She holds a J.D. and an LL.M. from Northwestern University, a Master of Law from Peking University, and an LL.B. from Beihang University, and is admitted to the New York State Bar with China legal qualification. She works in both English and Mandarin.
